The world is falling apart, exploding, in fact, and attention must be paid. But for 1-2 hours a day I need to stick my head even deeper into the sand and watch movies like Cedar Rapids. It’s silly but very amusing and well-acted, so I am recommending it for those of you who crave (like me) a pointless, but well-done diversion. The storyline: a naive 30-something insurance salesman leaves his small town in Wisconsin for the first time to attend an insurance convention in Cedar Rapids. There he meets fellow conventioneers who initiate him in a Dionysian adventure, ultimately leading to a path of self-discovery and friendship.
Sounds great. As I recall, a lot happens around the indoor hotel pool…

Thanks for the recommendation, Susan! Diversion is a good tactic; one can only stew so much before devolving into mush . . .
